Grand Trunk Trail – the Wild Ride West

Bikes on Grand Trunk2 On Sunday June 8th, 2014 The Wild Ride West, in celebration of National Trails Day and the 100th anniversary of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Line, was held on the Headingley Grand Trunk Trail. The celebration was attended by approximately 90 bike riders, geocache participants, and friends of the trail who came to “hang-out” and enjoy the sights on the trail.  Enjoy more of the ride, very well created by a 12-year-old, by clicking http://headingleygrandtrunktrails.blogspot.ca/

Tony the Turkey

field trip to Jane's 9 Tony

On Monday, June 02, 2014  Headingley Seniors’ Fit and Flex Group wound up the spring session with a delightful trip to the hobby farm of John and JaneVan Massenhoven.  Jane, along with Louise Hutton, led the seniors’ exercise group which met twice weekly as part of the programming offered by the MacDonald–Headingley Recreation District.field trip to Jane's 3

The farm provided an exciting new venue for exercise.   Rose Leclair, along with others present, laughingly recounted how the group was followed around the farm by “Tony, the Turkey”.  Tony quickly became part of the group, allowing himself to be petted, and even coming up onto the patio for snacks.
