Encore Health and Fitness Studio excer2 In its ongoing commitment to supporting healthy people and a healthy community, Headingley Seniors’ Services Inc. (HSSI) officially opened the Encore Health and Fitness Studio on October 01, 2014. Louise Hutton, Chairperson of HSSI, thanked those in government and the many volunteers, who gave their time and expertise to make this Fitness Studio a reality. Over 50 people were in attendance. The Honorable Stephen Fletcher MP, unable to attend, was represented by his father, Mr. David Fletcher who brought greetings and delivered a certificate to commemorate the opening. A Federal Government New Horizons Grant in the amount of $21,750 provided funding toward the project. Other notables in attendance were Stephen Fletcher’s mother, Mrs. Joanne Fletcher, Councillor John Mauseth, representing the RM Of Headingley, and Susanne Moore, Recreation Director for the Macdonald-Headingley Recreation District. Fitness Instructors Brenda Manchester and Jane Van Massenhoven demonstrated how the new equipment is used. It is located in the back of stage in the Headingley Community Centre. The equipment available includes:excer1 – a Recumbent Bike, Bosu Ball, Free Weights, a Mini Trampoline with Stability Bar, Soft Shell Medicine Balls, Resistance Equipment, a Seated Elliptical, a Stability Ball, Exercise Mats, a Hoist Multi-Gym and an Exercise Bench. The equipment is available to participants 18 years of age and over and who have taken the Fitness Studio Safety Orientation. There is a fee charged to cover maintenance and cleaning: $2.00/Drop-In, $10.00/month or $60.00/year.
